In 2021, a commemorative monument was unveiled in Windrush Square, Brixton to honour Cherry Groce. The memorial is a strikingly dark polished concrete structure inset with tributes and verse. The manufacturing and installation of this polished precast concrete structure required extremely complex engineering regarding structural reinforcement and connections. The canopy’s triangular shape defies conventional design principles by being supported by a single column at one end, requiring intricate calculations and careful execution.
