This project required the design, supply, and installation of a PAS68-compliant Anti-Terrorist/Vehicle Security Barrier Planter System around a new multi-story office building located in the heart of the Canary Wharf office complex. The planter system is a diverse range of large, reinforced precast concrete planter walling units that were designed as organically flowing shapes that were also required to safeguard the building from potential vehicular impacts. Notably, a substantial portion of the walls’ structural components were embedded underground, with an extensive integrated reinforcement system serving as the primary source of resilience in the design. To provide the required impact resistance, these walls have a significant portion of their mass concealed beneath the surface.
