Classic Masonry secured the comprehensive restoration contract for the existing war memorial, which had suffered considerable and irreversible deterioration due to its coastal positioning. The Company provided advice in the stone selection and procurement process to source a stone to match the existing Portland limestone that was most suited for the memorial’s specific location. From an awkward location within the rock face of the castle walls, the cross was carefully dismantled and replaced with the newly carved sections. To recreate the stunning Christ figure on the cross, we engaged the services of Mr. Adrian Melka, a renowned and talented national sculptor who delivered an exceptional replication of the statue despite having only the heavily eroded original figure for reference.
