The Faith Museum is a new extension to historic Auckland Castle. Replicating a tithe barn, the stonemasonry features a highly engineered and unique stone roof. The building envelope is constructed with colourful Northumberland sandstone with the bulk of the façade comprising smooth rubbed ashlar panels. Substantial feature gable fins and finials necessitated a high degree of technical design and were manufactured off site at our workshop. The building envelope is completed with a natural stone rainscreen roof in the same sandstone, on a uniquely designed supporting framework. Despite challenges caused by both the demands of the design and difficult ground conditions within the main contract works, Classic Masonry worked tirelessly with the Main Contractor to complete the building to the highest quality and exacting programme requirements.
